New Zealand is a destination really close to our hearts — we spent our honeymoon there! That was by no means our first visit, and during our many visits we’ve forged amazing friendships and had some incredible adventures. And that’s what led us to include New Zealand as a Love Travel Adventures destination — we want you to share the unforgettable experiences we’ve had!
Many compare New Zealand’s scenery to the Highlands of Scotland, and we can certainly see why. The South Island in particular — with its spectacular snow-capped mountains and glaciers — reminds us of home, while the North Island is a complete contrast. We love both. When on the North Island, we head for the sandy beaches, Hawkes Bay wineries, and ‘Windy’ capital city Wellington. Over on the South Island, we love just being out exploring in the wild, speeding through the Shotover Gorge on a high-power jet boat, or dropping in at American restaurant Fergburger, an absolute must when in Queenstown!

How are our adventures costed?
All international flights can be included, from regional airports convenient to you, subject to timetables and availability. We can arrange the full package or just ground arrangements only for you. Its very bespoke and needs to be right for you
Your Love Travel Adventures price is also inclusive of all internal flights, excursions, activities, local guides and ground travel. Costs are based on two adults sharing a double or twin room, subject to adventure duration.
We offer a mix of accommodation options, from Standard to Deluxe with a minimum bed-and-breakfast basis through to full board.
When is the best time to travel?
The best time to visit New Zealand is during the summer months of December to March. Expect long, bright, sunny days, and temperatures between 16°C and 23°C. It’s an ideal time to visit the lovely beaches or enjoy the many outdoor activities available, such as hiking, mountain biking, and a range of water sports.
Winter runs from June to September and offers a different experience of these islands — warm in the North Island (Auckland is around 15°C) but with snow and skiing in the South.
What is the currency?
New Zealand’s currency is the dollar, available in notes worth NZ$5, NZ$10, NZ$20, NZ$50, and NZ$100, and coins with values of 10, 20, and 50 cents, NZ$1 and NZ$2.
There’s no restriction on how much foreign currency can be brought in or taken out of New Zealand, but for sums of more than NZ$10,000 you need to complete a border cash report. Foreign currency can easily be exchanged at banks, some hotels, and the bureau de change kiosks found at international airports and in most city centres.
Following the discontinuation of 1c, 2c and 5c pieces, purchases are subject to ‘rounding’ up or down. Most retailers are using the Swedish Rounding System. Under this, prices ending in 1c to 4c are rounded down, and prices ending in 6c to 9c are rounded up. For example, a purchase of $15.14 would be rounded down to $15.10, and a purchase of $15.16 would be rounded up to $15.20. The retailer can decide how they handle prices ending in 5c!
All major credit cards can be used in New Zealand, with Visa and MasterCard accepted most widely.
